Under the patronage of the Chief Commissioner of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, his excellency Nayef Hamidi Al-Fayez, Jordan Industrial Ports Company launched in an official ceremony, its strategic plan and vision for the next five years under the title of "Accelerating Jordan's commercial prosperity with sustainable port services," marking the start of a new phase of growth and development of the company's business.
The strategy, which will make a quantum leap in Jordan Industrial Ports Company systems, includes several targets that the company is looking to achieve by 2027, most notably reaching the design capacity of 10 million tons per year through a robust marketing plan.
The strategy also aims to activate modern operational and environmental technologies within the industrial port to become the first smart port in Jordan, and the first "green" port in the Middle East region through its commitment to the highest standards of public safety and environmental protection. It will also become a training center for port management and operation in the region.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Industrial Ports Company, and CEO of the Arab Potash Company, Dr. Maen Nsour, indicated in his opening speech that the launch of the strategy and vision of Jordan Industrial Ports Company for the next five years comes in line with the objectives of the vision of economic modernization that focuses on unleashing Jordan's full potential to achieve comprehensive sustainable growth and creation of job opportunities, indicating that the strategy will be a start for a new and qualitative phase in the work of the company, thus becomes the number one in ports management and operation in the region. Dr. Nsour added that Jordan Industrial Ports Company is looking forward to developing its operations to keep in pace with the plans of Jordanian fertilizer companies in terms of quantitative and qualitative expansions for their products.
Engineer Abdul Wahab Al-Rowad, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jordan Industrial Ports Company and CEO of Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Arab Potash and Jordan Phosphate, which is embodied in Jordan Industrial Ports Company, noting that the two companies intend to implement several future joint ventures, such as the manufacturing of ammonia and enhanced fertilizers, as well as scientific research.
The General Manager of Jordan Industrial Ports Company, Eng. Khaled Shihadeh, gave a briefing on the company's strategic plan, which emanates from the economic modernization vision for Jordan, in which the strategic plan focused on a number of axes represented in public safety and the occupational health of the company`s employees, in addition to applying the highest quality standards in handling through maintaining flexibility in updating and accommodating global market variables and the requirements of existing and new users, referring to the foundations on which the plan and global studies were adopted in setting patterns and objectives, as well as the performance indicators necessary to achieve them.
Engineer Shihadeh stated that to implement its strategy, Jordan Industrial Ports Company in collaboration with Aqaba Development Company in the process of developing a new expansion agreement for the investment as the next stage, which includes increasing the concession period to 50 years in order to reduce economic & financial risks of the two fertilizers producing partners (Arab Potash and Jordan Phosphate) in Jordan, pointing to the efforts exerted to make Jordan Industrial Ports Company the first smart and green port in Jordan and the region.
It should be noted that Jordan Industrial Ports Company, during a record period since its establishment, has obtained a number of international certificates accreditation, and awards that placed it on the global ports map, such as ISO accreditation certificates in quality, public safety, and environment, and exceptional environmental certificates such as (Eco ports SLC), Jordan Industrial Ports Company also achieved the award for “Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety”, and is a member of the global “Dry Bulk Terminals Group”, the “British Safety Council” and other local and international councils and organizations.
